“Best Visual Place” awarded to mural project under Fort Duquesne Bridge<\/h2>\n

Riverlife is honored to receive the 2015 Award for Excellence: Visual Place<\/strong>from the Urban Land Institute\u00a0Pittsburgh<\/a> Placemaking Awards for our project\u00a0\u202a#\u200etbd\u202c<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0under the Fort Duquesne Bridge!<\/p>\n

The #tbd project features a 750-foot mural by artist Kim Beck which came to life over the summer with the help of over 150 volunteers, activating a dead zone under the bridge between Point State Park and the Cultural District riverfront park. The silhouettes of weeds introduced a striking visual element to this stretch of urban waterfront, and the ULI award recognizes it as “a place that best demonstrates iconic beauty through exemplary design.”<\/p>\n

Yesterday’s awards luncheon was a great day of recognition for Pittsburgh’s riverfronts all around. Congratulations to Friends of the Riverfront<\/strong>\u00a0for receiving the Award of Excellence: Healthy Place for the Three Rivers Heritage Trail!<\/p>\n
