{"id":4004,"date":"2015-10-18T14:16:52","date_gmt":"2015-10-18T18:16:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/riverlifepgh.org\/?p=175"},"modified":"2015-10-18T14:16:52","modified_gmt":"2015-10-18T18:16:52","slug":"riverlife-receives-environmental-grant-from-alcoa-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lucid-heisenberg.31-170-165-113.plesk.page\/index.php\/2015\/10\/18\/riverlife-receives-environmental-grant-from-alcoa-foundation\/","title":{"rendered":"Riverlife receives environmental grant from Alcoa Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"nodeContent\">\n<p>In September, Riverlife received a $30,000 grant from\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alcoa.com\/global\/en\/community\/foundation\/info_page\/about_overview.asp\">Alcoa Foundation<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to support an\u00a0<a href=\"\/u.s._army_corps_riverlife_announce_north_shore_aquatic_ecosystem_study\/\">environmental study of riverfront habitat at the headwaters of the Ohio River on the Pittsburgh\u2019s North Shore.<\/a>\u00a0 Riverlife is partnering on the project with the US Army Corps of Engineers who have designated the location in the federal interest.<\/p>\n<p>Alcoa Foundation grant funds are being used to complete environmental and vegetation assessments that will inform proposed plans for restoration improvements that will create a safer, more diverse, natural habitat. Alcoa Corporate Center is less than one mile from the study area and connected to it by the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.<\/p>\n<p>Total project study costs are projected to be $258,000. The North Shore aquatic ecosystem study is funded as a partnership between Riverlife and the U.S.\u00a0Army\u00a0Corps\u00a0of Engineers.
