The city has known, and overcome, severe economic challenges while continuing to gain momentum and recognition across our nation and the world.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 celebrations are seen as a bridge honoring our deep roots in history while acknowledging the changes we must implement to offer opportunities for generations to come.\u00a0 The Bicentennial celebrations are a year of events coordinated by a committee of community and business leaders.\u00a0 The committee is looking to cap a year of festivities with a public installation incorporating our City\u2019s sister bridges through a temporary display of lights that will open on Light Up Night 2016 (November 18, 2016).<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition period for this temporary installation will open on Light Up Night and last for up to one year. Artist, designers and\/ teams will be selected to participate in the program based on previous experience exhibiting public lighting displays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective and Opportunity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 240px; height: 168px; border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; float: left;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/old_images\/Pgh200_7406+K.jpg\" alt=\"Pittsburgh 200 logo\" \/>The Bridge Lighting installation will commemorate a year of celebrations for the City of Pittsburgh\u2019s 200<sup>th <\/sup>anniversary, kicking off on one of the city\u2019s most celebrated evenings, Light Up Night.\u00a0 <strong>The Bicentennial Committee is seeking artists and\/ or lighting designers to create a temporary lighting installation that will highlight the beauty of the bridges along the Allegheny River between the 6<sup>th<\/sup> Street Bridge and the Convention Center.\u00a0<\/strong> The installation must be for a minimum of six weeks and may last up to one year.<\/p>\n<p>Of note, the Warhol\/ 7<sup>th<\/sup> Street Bridge will be under reconstruction and cannot be included within the scope of the lighting project.\u00a0 On Light Up Night, festivities will be focused in and around the Rachel Carson\/ 9<sup>th<\/sup> Street Bridge with a large celebration in the David L.
