“Best Visual Place” awarded to mural project under Fort Duquesne Bridge
Riverlife is honored to receive the 2015 Award for Excellence: Visual Placefrom the Urban Land Institute Pittsburgh Placemaking Awards for our project #tbd under the Fort Duquesne Bridge!
The #tbd project features a 750-foot mural by artist Kim Beck which came to life over the summer with the help of over 150 volunteers, activating a dead zone under the bridge between Point State Park and the Cultural District riverfront park. The silhouettes of weeds introduced a striking visual element to this stretch of urban waterfront, and the ULI award recognizes it as “a place that best demonstrates iconic beauty through exemplary design.”
Yesterday’s awards luncheon was a great day of recognition for Pittsburgh’s riverfronts all around. Congratulations to Friends of the Riverfront for receiving the Award of Excellence: Healthy Place for the Three Rivers Heritage Trail!
